Studio will be accessible using a personal key code provided.
Studio hours are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun; 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Tue & Thu.
We are a working pottery studio, so staff will be there most weekdays and can answer basic questions.
If more help is needed, please let us know and we can set up a time to provide additional assistance.
Facilities/Equipment
Members will have access to pottery wheels, hand building space, a large slab roller, a glazing area, and a personal storage shelf for work and tools.
Monthly membership includes 50 lbs of clay (BC 6 stoneware from Clay Art Center in Tacoma), which will allow you to produce 20-30 small/medium items.
If you would like to make additional pieces in a month, you may purchase additional clay from us. We mark up the price of clay to account for the cost of glazes and firing. Currently, an additional 25 lbs may be purchased for $36.00 (plus tax).
If you would like a different type of clay that can be obtained from Clay Art Center, we can review the request and provide pricing that is inclusive of the costs associated with production. Light colored clays only (no orange, red, brown, etc).
The use of several dip and brush glazes will be included with the price of membership.
Members must obtain authorization to use outside glazes with Brian or Wendy. We will generally accept commercially prepared glazes designed for cone 5/6.
Work must be identified/marked by each member.
There will be multiple bisque and glaze firings weekly.
Members will have personal shelf space to store work and tools.
Requirements
Studio will not be staffed at all times; members must have basic working knowledge of equipment to work independently.
Members must complete an orientation program prior to studio use.
Members agree to abide by studio rules and to clean up after use.
Members will need to supply own tools – basic tool kits and some items may be available for purchase in studio.
Pricing/Payment
Basic membership: $225.00 per month (tax included) includes access 7 days per week from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM via personal pin number on keypad. Price includes 50 lbs of stoneware clay, glazing materials and firing for items made with clay included in membership.
Payment must be made on a full monthly basis prior to the first of the month to reserve membership.
Membership payments not made by the due date in each calendar month (unless prior arrangements made) may cause loss of active status and member may have to return to wait list until an active membership is available. Membership numbers will be limited to ensure consistent access to equipment.
Our goal is to provide a fun, collaborative environment for the community. We anticipate having different workshops and events throughout the year. We are a working production pottery studio, so much of the time we will be available to assist with questions. At this time, we are not offering lessons, but this may be an option in the future.
